more aware the last few days

Britney has been more aware the last few days. When her Dad visited her a few days ago she was awake the whole time and he thought he saw a smile a few times when he was talking to her. My mom visited a few days later and was really excited because of the emotion on Britney's face when she was talking to her. She thought she saw a few smiles, and when she told her she had to leave Britney frowned. Even though progress is slow it is still progress. Even though we don't know her prognosis and can't even begin to really guess what it might be, we have strong peaceful feelings whenever we are afraid or doubt she will get better. I don't know what any of it means except to keep moving forward and showing her as much love as possible and giving her as much human contact as possible. Thank you for you continuing support and love.

  3. That is wonderful news, John! I have no doubt Britney has about a million things she wants to say to you and everyone around her and is just doing all she can to communicate those emotions. You have taught our family so much about faith and perseverance already. You should expect a package to arrive at your home in Arizona in the next week or so. We love you all!

  4. I am looking at flights. When will you be back in Colorado? Is there a better time to come? Call me when you have a second. I think I will come for a long weekend.

  6. John,
I've never posted before but have been keeping track on this blog for the last 6 months with tears in my eyes. I just wanted to tell you that the incredible strength Brittany, you and your family continue to show is obviously teaching and blessing others. We just can't know the huge impact this very difficult experience is having on so many people. Keep hope, follow the spirit and know that He is God. Margie Kersey, Hidden Valley Ward

  7. It was good to see you at church last week. We enjoy having you there, when you can make it. I love the picture of your darling little daughter in the hospital gown and gloves. Kids are so good at finding fun anywhere. You're always in my thoughts and prayers.

  10. Hi John, This is Rachel Terry from the old Clement Park Ward. I was wondering if it would be okay if I went to see Britney at Kindred. I couldn't find your email address. Thanks

  11. John, I saw Britney today. I visited for about an hour and she was alert most of the time I was there. She even seemed to smile and respond to me. You are all in our prayers. Thank you so much for calling me and letting me know what is happening. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

  12. Hi, John. I just wanted to let you know that I continue to lift you and your family up in prayer. I haven't seen any updates for a while, and hope and pray that there has been progress (on many fronts). I will be in the Denver area in late April/early May, and would love to pay Britney a visit. Kindest Regards, Katherine Coolidge

  13. Dear Winkler family/John,

We've never commented before on your blog - but have kept updated on Britney since the very beginning.
I (Krystin) am the wife of Janna and Casey's bishop's son (Jay). But also a daughter of a member family of their ward (George & Loalyn Hellewell).
I just wanted to let you know that I continue to put all your names on the role at the SLC temple whenever I make a trip inside.
I hope February is going well for you all, and I look forward to more updates about Britney soon.

    Love,
    Krystin & Jay Christopherson
