Britney passed away peacefully this morning. She has been kept comfortable by a wonderfull staff at North Suburban hospital since she got to the ICU there. She had severe septic shock from a UTI and possibly a pneumonia along with aspiration pneumonitis. She had a prolonged period of severe respiratory distress and was in septic shock before she was able to be recussitated at North Suburban. We believe she may have suffered another anoxic insult to her brain before she got the propper care at North Suburban. Our family all agreed she had been through enough. Everyone of her sisters were able to make it before she passed away. We are planning funeral services and will make a date final tomorow. We will post time and location when we know. Thank you all for your increadible support. I know Britney felt your love and I read her a lot of your posts. Your prayers and faith have helped al of us more than you will ever know. She is at peace now. I feel it very very strongly and she is not trapped in a tourtured body any more.

John,
ReplyDeleteMy heart aches for you and your family. I cannot imagine how difficult this year has been for all of you. I really appreciated reading the words of the song you wrote for Britney. The love your family has for one another is so strong. I am so grateful to know that families are forever. I am truely grateful that I know Britney and am grateful for the example she set for us all. I remember going to Youth Conference and you two came along. I will never forget that experience.
We pray that you will continue to feel peace and love.
Love,
Heather Despain Davenport and Family

John,
ReplyDeleteI was a friend of Britney's during high school and loved her so much. She was so smart, fun, beautiful and confident. We ate lunch together every day freshman year. Lunch at the Foster's was always the best (which leads me to believe that you all probably ate really well at your house). I remember great conversations with Britney and even remember conciously thinking "wow, I really like this girl. She and I should hang out more often." After high school, she hooked me up with a job at the Black-eyed Pea. I loved working with her and hearing all the stories of this "cute, older guy from the singles ward." She knew you were the one right away. She looked beautiful and so happy on your wedding day!
I wish your family so much peace and healing during this time. Britney will be missed by so many people and she will always in my heart. I am glad she was my friend!

We are thinking of you today and are praying that you will feel comfort and peace.

We love you so much John, and feel that our aches must be felt ten fold by you. I know what Britney meant to me and can only imagine what you are going through. The peace and comfort that comes from knowing where she is now is nice but it is still OK to mourn that it is final, that she is with our heavenly father now.(I am still figuring out how to feel) I was looking at pictures of Ellie and Vera today and it makes me hope that those two can stay "Best Friends" like what Britney and I had. Prayers are with you and always will be.

ReplyDeleteI was a friend of Mackenzie's but I loved her whole family. They all are incredible people especially your wife! You guys are all in our prayers and if there is anything I can do to help in these next days I would be more then happy to help(I am Mackenzie's husbands cousin, Mamie Mullins). You are a very strong person. We will continue to pray for all of you.
Dear John and sweet sweet family:
ReplyDeleteWords are so inadequate and all I can say is I'm so sorry and yet your Britney must be so relieved and so happy. I feel a special bond and love for you and your family as you moved into the ward just before Walter went into the hospital and at that same time, Britney was in the hospital. I feel you and I both lost our sweethearts a year ago. It's been a tough year. Your song made me cry as I read the words and felt those same feelings for my Walter. We have a lot in common. You are indeed very strong...and an example to all of us. You continue to be in our prayers. Sincerely, Beverly Holmes
Dear John and family,
ReplyDeleteWhen Britney got sick we thought there could not have been a sweeter person in all the world to have that trial, or a family who was already striving to do all that was asked. We are praying for your comfort now and in the times ahead. You have been an inspiration to us and we will continue to think of you all often.
Sincerely,
Scott, Andrea, and Ethan Larson

What an incredible father you are. I had the privilege of going to high school, church and working with Britney. She was an amazing person. She would never speak badly about anyone, she was always willing to help, she baked the most wonderful wheat bread with homemade honey butter, she was a beautiful person and I am so thankful to have known her. The only reason I can think of why she would be taken so early, is that she was and still is a perfect spirit, one who no longer required testing on this earth, who is needed in heaven because of her grace and tenderness. I know that she is on the other side watching her beautiful family, proud of your strength and hard work. Thank you for keeping us updated, and we will continue to pray for you and your family.
